I was born in England, but my childhood and early years were spent in Canada and the USA. In the course of my working life, I have been involved in Engineering, Army and Police Service (I wanted adventure after being obliged to start my working career in a job I hated)   and finally Journalism.  My hobbies include Aviation (I have flown many varieties of fixed and rotary wing aircraft), ocean liner history and web design. 

I am fascinated by castles, old buildings and true ghost stories - themes which feature regularly in this website. 5 years as a bike cop left me with an addiction to motorcycles and a wardrobe that is the envy of leather perverts everywhere.
