When The Bedlam Web Group set about creating a site dedicated to RMS Queen Mary, the greatest ocean liner ever to sail the seas, it was undoubtledly their most ambitious project to date. In addition to historical information, timelines, ghost stories and galleries bursting with new photographs, it offered breath-taking movies, animations, haunting music from the decades spanned by the lifetime of this remarkable vessel and even live webcam views of the Queen at her anchorage in Long Beach! Unfortunately, on the eve of completion, a total system crash destroyed most of its thousands of original files, images and texts. Shortly after this blow, Dr Renfield (the main cog in our machine) was felled by a crippling illness and confined to hospital for several months. Under the circumstances, it will be a while before we have the heart to start the tremendous task of remaking all that was lost. The images which follow were part of my contribution to "RMS QUEEN MARY - HISTORY, GHOSTS & LEGENDS". We intended to follow up our Queen Mary site with pages devoted to RMS Titanic - the loss of all our QM files led to the appearance of the 'sequel' first. Latest News: Our Queen Mary website is slowly taking shape. I say 'slowly' because we became involved in so many ocean-liner related projects that we're playing 'catch up' all around the Internet. If you begin with the site below, you'll be able to visit each of our constantly-developing ship resources. Fellow liner fanatics are welcome to contribute texts and images. We aim to involve as many old hands as possible and to introduce tomorrow's enthusiasts to the wonder and beauty of the big passenger ships! |
